Immobilise Now!
Each year one in every 120 Australian households falls victim to vehicle theft. What may be even more surprising is that it is older vehicles, not new ones that are most commonly targeted. This is because older vehicles lack adequate security, making them easy targets. Around three-quarters of vehicles stolen in Australia are taken by opportunistic thieves who steal for short term uses such as transport, to commit other crimes or simply for kicks.
Immobilise Now! is a NMVTRC initiative to reduce the rate of theft of older cars in Australia. Research indicates that an electronic engine immobiliser is the best form of vehicle security available to deter these opportunistic thieves. In order to secure the maximum number of older vehicles fitted with an immobiliser, the NMVTRC has established the CAR-SAFE Immobilise Now! program, a partnership with suppliers and installers to provide immobilisers at an affordable price.
