Information for residents of participating LGAs

When will Operation Bounce Back be running?

Operation Bounce Back programs are run in two flights each year. Most programs operating in the first flight will be underway in July, and will wrap up by the end of October. Programs operating in the second flight for the financial year generally commence in March and finish up at the end of June. Contact your local municipality for specific dates and timelines.

How will the immobiliser vouchers be distributed?

Participating municipalities have a number of options for distributing the vouchers, and may choose one or more methods of identifying recipients. For example:

  • Victim mail-out: recent victims of vehicle theft may be identified by local police services and contacted with an offer.
  • Newspaper/media: advertisements and competitions are sometimes placed in local newspapers or other forms of media calling for applications. Successful applicants will be contacted by the Council.
  • Give-aways at promotional days: some choose to distribute vouchers at promotional displays at shopping centres, train stations, etc. These events are always well publicised.

The method of distribution and eligibility criteria will vary based on local considerations, so be sure to keep an eye out in local newspapers and contact your municipality for further details.

Are there any restrictions on the vouchers?

The immobiliser vouchers are subject to three main restrictions, namely:

  • The voucher covers the cost of an Australian Standards approved immobiliser including installation to the value of $200 (excluding GST). Additional features such as addition of an alarm or integration with central locking etc. will not usually be covered by this cost.
  • Vouchers must be redeemed with one of our participating Immobilise Now! installers. A list of participating outlets will be printed on each voucher.
  • All vouchers are subject to an expiry date, which is usually 31 October for the first flight or 30 June for the second flight but can vary. Be sure to book in with plenty of time with one of the listed installers.

What if I miss out on a voucher?

If you do miss out on receiving a voucher you can still have an engine immobiliser fitted by any of our CAR-SAFE registered installers for just $220. This is well below the recommended retail price and is far less than the costs associated with having a car stolen.
