Information for interested municipalities

How are municipalities selected for participation in Operation Bounce Back?

At the end of each year the NMVTRC conducts a statistical analysis of local government areas in each state to develop a list of top ranking vehicle theft suburbs, with a particular emphasis on older car thefts. Final selections are based on a variety of factors including the number of older car thefts and the theft rate per population. First round grants are generally offered in June, with second round offers in November.

When will the list of participating LGAs be finalised?

Once nominated municipalities have accepted grants, they are asked to submit an application with details of their program. A funding agreement is then drawn up by the NMVTRC.

When will Operation Bounce Back be running?

Operation Bounce Back programs are run in two flights each year. Most programs operating in the first flight will be underway in July, and will wrap up by the end of October. Programs operating in the second flight for the financial year generally commence in March and finish up at the end of June. Timings are scheduled to coincide with the local peak period of theft risk.
